Month of the Military Child

Apr 1, 2016

Fallen Patriots celebrates the bravery of Gold Star children during Month of the Military Child. Gold Star children have had to endure immeasurable sacrifice, losing a parent. This awareness month was established to underscore the important role children play in the Armed Forces community.

Military children face many challenges that are unique to their situation, such as having a parent deployed for extended periods of time, moving frequently and sometimes losing a parent. Deployments and family separations can be stressful times for children.

Gold Star military children face many challenges that are also unique to their situation, most importantly losing a parent. Fallen Patriots strives to create a relationship for life with Gold Star scholars, not just a one-time scholarship. We work to give families support, hope and opportunity as they overcome their tragic loss.

“My dad taught me the definition of sacrifice. I knew that my father had an honorable job, but it wasn’t until he returned in a bulletproof, metal case draped with an American flag that I realized what a sacrifice truly was,” explained Gold Star scholar Emily McClimans.

Fallen Patriots salutes soldiers that sacrificed their lives for our continued freedom. Providing support for Gold Star children is one of the best ways we can honor those who died defending our country.
